Description
The Banff International Research Station will host the "WIGGD III: Workshop in Groups, Geometry, and Dynamics" workshop in Banff from July 13 - 18, 2025.
This workshop is a continuation of the previous two successful retreats. It will bring together researchers at various career stages to work on collaborative research projects in the intersection of geometric topology, geometric group theory, and dynamics. The workshop will also provide mentorship and build a sense of community. Participants will be assigned to one of four groups, each working on a different research project in the intersection of groups, geometry, and dynamics. Work on the projects will begin remotely months before the in-person workshop and may continue beyond the workshop itself.
The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada’s Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and Alberta’s Advanced Education and Technology.
